Creation of a new country office process manual for UN organisation after corporate change initiative

Client Challenge

After a new strategic planning and budgeting structure were introduced, a UN agency needed to revise its country office standard operating procedures and asked us for help. 

VfG Contribution
  • Spent one month in a pilot country office in sub-Saharan Africa and carried out entire exercise in this short timeframe
  • Working with officers of each country office division, held a series of design workshops to map out most efficient and effective process along the entire planning cycle: from creating the strategic plan, to planning annual budgets, to making payments to vendors to reporting on results to headquarters, host governments and donors
  • Prepared simple, visually compelling process maps for each new standard operating procedure
  • Detailed RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) for each process step
  • Documented new standard operating procedures in a manual that served as a model for the entire UN agency

  • Improved operational efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian country office through user centered design of new standard processes
