Challenge
Value for Good (VfG) supported the German government to embed digital solutions into development aid by supporting the launch of a collaborative digital innovation hub, in partnership with a ministry, a development agency, a promotional bank, and a large international foundation.
Contribution
VfG worked closely with all parties involved to define the hub’s operating model and organisational structure, then identify digital innovations suitable for investments that meet local country needs as well as policy requirements. Furthermore, VfG provided technical assistance in project launches and guided investment processes for scaling digital public goods.
Impact
Two digital public goods were brought to market in the Global South with >5€m raised in direct investments for pilots—one providing relevant and localized information to smallholder farmers in East Africa, the other driving financial inclusion through an instant and interoperable payment system in Rwanda. This successful collaboration also helped deepen the relationship between partners and strengthen mutual trust.
