Conducting a Social Return on Investment analysis of a mentoring programme for elementary school children

Client: eleven gGmbH

We conducted a social return on investment analysis (SROI) of Balu und Du, a German mentoring programme for elementary school children, to prove the long-term value creation on each Euro invested.

The project involved analysing existing evaluation data of the programme and finding relevant secondary research on the long-term benefits of similar programmes.

We modelled long-term social value for the government through improved health, increased educational outcomes, and better employment prospects leading to increased tax income.

The final results – an excel spreadsheet with a discounted cash flow calculation – were compiled into an easily readable report to explain the results in straight-forward way.  The results helped eleven gGmbH and Balu und Du prove the value of its investment in the programme and make the case for more public funding.
